Yahsat works with Astrium and Boeing to provide Ka-band communication systems for MPA
Al Yah Satellite Communications Company PrJSC (Yahsat), a private joint stock company fully owned by Mubadala, has expanded its relationship with Astrium and Boeing in the field of aerial platforms for use in Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) via Yahsat’s government Ka-band capacity.
This agreement, which was announced during Dubai Airshow 2013, held between November 17 and 21 at Dubai World Central, reaffirms Yahsat’s commitment to providing world class services to meet demands for secure, high speed transmission of data.
Ali Al Hashimi, General Manager of YahService commented:
“Our secure SATCOM solutions provide high throughput connectivity that enable the aerial platforms to communicate more effectively with the ground control center. Our satellite's ability to provide large capacity Ka Band for a variety of activities along with the state-of-the-art system that we are procuring will provide an enhanced communications solution for Maritime Patrol Aircraft.”
Evert Dudok, CEO of Astrium Services said:
“We are delighted to work with Yahsat again to offer airborne SATCOM systems based on our state-of-the-art technology and systems capability, and to continue our close working relationship.”
Paul Geery, Vice President of Boeing’s Command, Control and Communications Solutions division said:
“Boeing’s low-profile aeronautical SATCOM antennas offer a solution for many different platforms. We are pleased to be able to extend this capability for the UAE’s Maritime Patrol Aircraft program.”
In April 2011, Yahsat’s satellite Y1A was successfully launched and positioned in orbit and has been providing satellite communications services for both governmental and commercial customers across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia since. Yahsat’s second satellite, Y1B was successfully launched on April 23, 2012.
