A delegation of UAE nationals from Strata Manufacturing, the advanced composite aerostructures manufacturing facility wholly-owned by Mubadala Development Company, recently visited the Airbus A350 aircraft which underwent extreme climate testing at Al Ain International Airport. The A350 is the latest addition to the Airbus family, expected to enter commercial operation in December of this year.

The visiting Strata delegation had the opportunity to experience firsthand the innovative technologies used in producing this next generation aircraft that is made from 50% composite materials.  The visit also provided a valuable learning experience as the company will begin producing flap track fairings for this aircraft by year end.

The A350 underwent testing in extreme climates, in addition to other important tests which will ensure its suitability for commercial use before delivering the first shipment to Qatar Airways later this year.

The strategic partnership between Airbus and Strata began in 2008, and has supported Strata in positioning itself as a preferred partner to Airbus. Through this partnership, hundreds of aerospace industry jobs have been provided to Emirati nationals in Al Ain. In collaboration with other local companies, Strata plays an active role in the  UAE’s aerospace industry, supporting Abu Dhabi’s  2030 vision and empowering Emirati women to contribute to building a sustainable and diversified economy. The success of this strategic partnership in such a short time is clear evidence of the UAE’s visionary leadership.

Airbus is currently supporting Abu Dhabi’s position as a global aerospace hub, and to date,  Strata has successfully delivered over $126 million worth of products to Airbus facilities in France and Germany, including aileron panels, flap track fairings, and spoilers.

By 2018, Airbus' order book with Strata will reach approximately $100 million a year, making Strata a significant supplier to Airbus. After gaining the trust and confidence of Airbus by manufacturing high-quality products, Strata has become a leading and sole supplier to Airbus on particular parts; a  significant milestone for a company which began operation less than five years ago. By the end of 2014, Strata will deliver work packages on the A330, A380 and A350.

Building on the successful partnership between the companies, Strata and Airbus are currently developing an ambitious plan for the next 15-20 years, looking into new areas of cooperation to further strengthen their relationship.
