Responsible Investing in the Spotlight

Responsible investing has been at the heart of Mubadala’s philosophy since our inception.
From purposeful capital deployment, to driving transformational change within our portfolio companies, we convene global partners and peers to drive and amplify collective action.

Pioneering Responsible Investing for a Sustainable Future

At Mubadala, responsible investing has been central to our philosophy since our inception. From the start, we’ve balanced our pursuit of financial returns with the goal of delivering positive outcomes for current and future generations. This imperative drives our focus on integrating climate, environmental, social, and governance considerations into every investment decision.

Our responsible investment strategy is anchored in three core activities: purposefully deploying capital to address global challenges, enabling our portfolio companies to drive transformational change, and fostering collaboration to amplify collective action. These priorities took center stage at COP29, where Derek Rozycki, Head of Responsible Investing, engaged with Chief Sustainability Officers of global financial institutions, senior officials from the IMF and other world bodies, as well as leading academics, to further their collaboration to address climate change.

As a sovereign wealth fund, we work to advance decarbonization, including in hard-to-abate sectors. Established by Mubadala in 2006, Masdar is a leader in renewable energy, with a goal of scaling its gross energy capacity to 100 GW by 2030. Mubadala is working closely with its partner Carlyle to transform Moeve, formerly known as Cepsa, into a leading green hydrogen and biofuels business. We are not just adapting to change we are leading it.

Mubadala is also committed to driving climate data transparency through the implementation of the One Planet Climate Disclosure Guidance for Private Markets. Clearer data empowers better decision-making, laying the foundation for meaningful progress on climate action.
