Mubadala World Tennis Championship opens today in the capital.
Abu Dhabi- Six of the world’s best players arrived in Abu Dhabi today ready to ace their New Year at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship. Heading into its eighth year, the tournament features one of its most competitive line-ups yet and give sports fans across the region a first glimpse of the players as they begin their 2016 campaigns. World number 7 David Ferrer will face off against crowd favourite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to open the action on centre court at the International Tennis Centre, Zayed Sports City. Milos Raonic and Kevin Anderson will follow the opening match to make their Abu Dhabi debuts and start the New Year celebrations with a bang. Day one’s victors will go through to face either 14-time Grand Slam champion, Rafael Nadal, or reigning French Open champion and world number four, Stan Wawrinka on the second day of play, January 1st.
