ABU DHABI (WAM) - A high level delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), headed by Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy, will take part in the World Energy Congress (WEC 2016), which will open in Istanbul on Sunday.

The World Energy Congress is the premier international, multi-energy forum for participants to better understand energy issues and solutions from a global perspective.

The UAE delegation will have representatives from the Ministry of Energy, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA), Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA), Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC), Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), International Petroleum Investments Company (IPIC) and Masdar.

Al Mazrouei said the UAE's keenness to participate in this event comes from country's importance as a key player in the global energy, sustainable development and green economy arenas. He applauded the role of local organisations and companies in ensuring UAE's strong presence in all international events.

The UAE is taking part in the event through a national pavilion, grouping national companies with businesses related to energy and oil.

The UAE will be the first OPEC member to host this event in 2019.
