Thursday, July 19th 2012 – Over 40 children aged between seven and 12 attended the inaugural Color Your Summer art camp held at Ghaf Art Gallery on Tuesday, July 17th. Coordinated by Mubadala Development Company and Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF), the event was designed to encourage children to learn new skills and develop their artistic talents.
Hosted by artists from Marsam Mattar, a leading Emirati art gallery, the camp included two workshops, an acrylic lesson focusing on basic concepts of shape, volume, and light, and a handicraft session where children created artworks from a range of art materials.
Hager Abdel Nagib, Rawand Abdel Fattah, Nadine Adel and Abdullah Maher were recognized for their performance during the workshops, receiving art books and vouchers for art supplies. Other participating children received an art kit including coloring pencils and painting materials.
Commenting on her participation in Color Your Summer, 10 years-old Reem Kazli said, “I have never colored using acrylic paint before and I’m happy to have learned how to use it at the art camp.”
Commenting on the success of the camp, Amina Taher, Head of Community Engagement, Mubadala, said: “Through our partnership with ADMAF and by supporting events such as Color Your Summer art camp, we hope to foster an appreciation of arts and culture while giving youth multiple opportunities to improve their skills. We’re especially proud of our collaboration with Marsam Mattar to develop homegrown talent.”
