Mubadala hosts fourth edition of Global Aerospace Summit

Summit will gather top decision makers to shape the future of the industry in an increasingly digitized world.

Abu Dhabi, UAE – Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala) will host the fourth Global Aerospace Summit, an invitation-only strategic forum for senior international industry leaders in the aerospace, aviation, space and defense industries. Held at the St. Regis, Saadiyat Island from April 30 to May 2, this year’s summit will focus on how these industries are changing to overcome challenges in the evolving international landscape and seizing opportunities with new, advanced technologies.

Khaled Al Qubaisi, CEO of Aerospace, Renewables and ICT at Mubadala, commented: “The Global Aerospace Summit provides an ideal platform to engage with key stakeholders in the aviation and defense industry. His Excellency Mohammed Al Bowardi, the UAE Minister of State for Defence, will headline day one of the conference program, followed by a welcome address by Khaled Al Qubaisi. The Summit will feature insights from industry decision makers, including Marillyn Hewson, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Lockheed Martin; Sheila Remes, Vice President of Strategy, Boeing Commercial Airplanes; Tony Douglas, Chief Executive Officer, Etihad Aviation Group; Francois Auque, Chairman of the Investment Committee, Airbus Ventures; and Walid Abukhaled, Chief Executive, Northrop Grumman Middle East.

Highlighting the importance of discussing the role of technology at the Summit, Badr Al Olama, Director of Aerospace at Mubadala said: "In order to make the most of emerging market opportunities, it is essential that we share industry know-how by capitalizing on knowledge-sharing platforms such as the Global Aerospace Summit. This year, the Summit will also convene a Youth Circle hosted by Homaid Al Shimmari, Mubadala’s Deputy Group CEO and Chief Corporate and Human Capital Officer, with guest speaker, Marillyn Hewson. The initiative, governed by the Emirates Youth Council, will see around 35 students and young professionals participate in an interactive discussion on key market trends and career opportunities in the Aerospace industry, as well as address what critical skills are needed to drive the future of this dynamic sector.

Mubadala has a growing aerospace division that comprises of six organizations in 15 countries that partner with leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) on world-class manufacturing and industrial services.

During the Summit, Strata Manufacturing PJSC, Mubadala’s Al-Ain based aerostructures manufacturer, is set to announce new contracts and developments. Meanwhile, Turbine Services and Solutions (TS&S), Mubadala’s maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider, is set to showcase its technological capabilities and announce a strategic new partnership.
