16 teams slated to battle it out at Zayed Sports City
Abu Dhabi: Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi based investment and development company, has announced that registration is now open for its sixth annual Mubadala Football Tournament, set to take place at Zayed Sports City’s main stadium from April 3 - 7.
The tournament will see 16 teams, in four groups, competing for the championship title, as part of its commitment to providing exciting platforms for community members to be fit and active. Through this and other community engagement activities, Mubadala encourages members of the public to maintain a healthy lifestyle by playing a sport they enjoy in a fun and competitive environment.
Nadine Saleh Hassan, Head of Integrated Marketing and Outreach at Mubadala said, “The tournament has become a well-established platform in the Capital and we’re excited to welcome players – both new and returning - to this year’s edition. We are proud to have loyal teams that have been participating in the tournament since its inception in 2011, which is testament to its success.”
She added, “Mubadala is committed to encouraging the community to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle, through this tournament and a range of other activities it organizes throughout the year.”
The competition this year will be fierce, including a team from Abu Dhabi Sports Council bringing together some ex-professional Emirati players to participate in the tournament.
Mubadala Football Tournament is open to male youth who are 16 years and above. Last year, team HOMKO was crowned as champion following its win against Salesbury by a score of 2 – 0 in an exciting penalty shoot-out, after drawing 2 – 2 at full time.
