ABU DHABI – To support the UAE Year of Reading, the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) hosted its first book fair titled “IPIC Reads” at its headquarters and held a tour of its very own library today.
H.E. Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy of the UAE and Managing Director of IPIC toured the library to a crowd of IPIC employees, business partners, and established UAE writers and entrepreneurs, Omar Al Busaidy and Manar Al Hinai.
IPIC’s library holds over 2,600 books and 155,000 e-books and will continue to grow over the years. Today, the IPIC library is dedicated to the personal development of its employees and going forward, the company plans to involve business partners and local education institutes.
H.E. Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei said, “Under the directives of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, we are proud to provide our active support to the UAE Year of Reading. IPIC invests globally across the energy value chain in order to bring back socioeconomic benefits to the UAE, and investing in reading is a key component to building a knowledge-based economy.”
Speaking at the event, author of “Just Read It” Omar Al Busaidy said, “The more you read, the more you know and the better decisions you make. The UAE is flourishing with young and talented entrepreneurs that have the potential of competing on a global scale. So, it was great to see IPIC take the initiative to empower its employees and the wider UAE community through reading – an effort that will go a long way beyond 2016.”
Also speaking at the event, local writer Manar Al Hinai said, “Organisations across the UAE should follow IPIC’s example and dedicate reading spaces for their employees. Reading is an integral part of any nation’s progress, and today’s event was a great step in the right direction.”
