Etisalat is one of the first telecommunications company in the country to sign up with the company whose vision is to expand the much needed broadband capacity on the African continent and reduce costs of broadband communications across the Continent. Main One has landing stations in Nigeria and Ghana and branching units in Morocco, Canary Islands, Senegal and Ivory Coast. The cable will deliver unprecedented broadband capacity to West Africa; more than ten times what is currently available.

Speaking on the deal, Etisalat CEO Steven Evans said that the submarine cable system is set to revolutionize the telecommunications industry in Nigeria as well as in Africa. The CEO explained further that the submarine fibre optic cable will go a long way to enhance Etisalat’s broadband capacity thus leading to improved data services.
