Etisalat Partners Main One for Broadband

In line with its commitment to providing quality services to its growing customers, Nigeria’s most innovative telecommunications company, Etisalat has signed up with Main One Company Limited; Nigeria’s leading sub-sea cable services provider, to take advantage of the cable company’s recently launched submarine fibre optic cable on its network.

Etisalat is one of the first telecommunications company in the country to sign up with the company whose vision is to expand the much needed broadband capacity on the African continent and reduce costs of broadband communications across the Continent. Main One has landing stations in Nigeria and Ghana and branching units in Morocco, Canary Islands, Senegal and Ivory Coast. The cable will deliver unprecedented broadband capacity to West Africa; more than ten times what is currently available.

Speaking on the deal, Etisalat CEO Steven Evans said that the submarine cable system is set to revolutionize the telecommunications industry in Nigeria as well as in Africa. According to him, “This latest revolution will enable us deliver top quality broadband data solutions to our growing millions of customers across Nigeria. We are delighted to be one of the first companies to sign up to the cable. It is consistent with our commitment to always deliver quality service to our customers using latest cutting-edge technology.” Etisalat is known for world-class services in all the countries where it operates.

The CEO explained further that the submarine fibre optic cable will go a long way to enhance Etisalat’s broadband capacity thus leading to improved data services.

Main One Cable Company Limited is the first wholly African submarine cable company offering open access, wholesale broadband capacity in West Africa. It is the first privately owned submarine network cable in West Africa to go live.
