du celebrates the graduation of 150 Emaratis from development training held at Higher Colleges of technology

In support of its commitment to the development of UAE Nationals, du today hosted a graduation ceremony at Higher Colleges of Technology – Dubai Men’s College (HCT), for the first batch of company 150 Emarati employees who completed a development programme under the umbrella of Emiratisation programme - (Masar). The ceremony was attended by Osman Sultan - CEO of du, Dr. Tayeb Kamali, Vice Chancellor, HCT and Fahad Al Hassawi, Chief Human Resources and Shared Services Officer, du, along with other senior members of du executive management.

Graduates completed either of the two career paths - Bedaya and Tamayaz offering varying training programmes based on different skill sets, introduced by du in 2010 as part of its continuous efforts to develop its Emiratisation programme -Masar.

“We extend our heartiest congratulations to Masar graduates, and sincerely thank the Higher Colleges of Technology for giving our employees the unique opportunity to benefit from their academic expertise on the training programme. As part of our Emiratisation strategy, we focus on giving careers to local talent and ensure that we equip them with all the necessary tools to build their skills and help them develop in their career when they join us, through the Masar programme,” commented Fahad Al Hassawi, Chief Human Resources and Shared Services Officer, du.

“Training is the cornerstone to achieving these goals as it supports and nurtures employees’ abilities, which enables them to do the best job possible. In 2011 we hope to announce more developments in our Emiratisation programme, including the launch of other training courses in cooperation with HCT,” he added.

The ceremony took place at Higher Colleges of Technology – Dubai Men’s College (HCT) on 30 December 2010 in felicitation of the du employees who completed successfully a group of specially designed courses for du’s Masar programme at the Higher Colleges of Technology premises. Osman Sultan - CEO of du, Dr Tayeb Kamali, Vice Chancellor, HCT and Fahad Al Hassawi, Chief Human Resources and Shared Services Officer, du handed-over the certificates to the graduates.

The event follows the successful partnership agreement du signed with the Higher Colleges of Technology earlier this year, as part of a new development in the company’s Masar courses under its Emiratisation programme. As per the agreement, du organised comprehensive training courses for Emirati employees who enrolled on the programme. The training courses covered many aspects of career development for local employees, and was conducted at the HCT premises.

The training programme with HCT covers many areas, including English Language, etiquettes of e-communication, International Computer Driving License (ICDL), communication skills, time management, the principles of report writing, business development, an introduction to the telecommunications sector, business presentation skills, problem-solving and decision-making.
