Abu Dhabi: Celebrate Chinese New Year in style this February by enjoying an array of authentic Far Eastern experiences on Al Maryah Island. 

To usher in the Year of the Monkey, the weekend of Friday 4th and 5th of February will see the Promenade on Abu Dhabi’s business and lifestyle destination come alive with dragons, dancers and Chinese Craft demonstrations, with a spectacular fireworks display at 9:45pm on the Friday. 

Throughout the weekend visitors will also be able to go on a culinary journey through Hong Kong at the Rosewood Hotel Abu Dhabi, with special menus and events offered at Dai Pai Dong.

In addition, from Wednesday 3 February to Monday 8 February, The Galleria on Al Maryah Island will play host to a variety of performances including jaw dropping acts from the Cirque Shanghai acrobatic group. Visitors will be transported to a scenic Chinese landscape through the artworks works of acclaimed Chinese artist Jun Ma. Complimentary arts and crafts stations will be available for children to get creative during the festivities by making traditional Chinese lanterns and fans, and trying their hand at calligraphy.

With a large population of Chinese residents in Abu Dhabi and a growing number of Chinese tourists visiting the capital, we hope they will enjoy celebrating this colorful and energetic festival among the Al Maryah Island and Abu Dhabi communities.”

Although Chinese New Year takes place on 8th February this year, Chinese festivities will take place between 3rd and 20th of February on Al Maryah Island with a thrilling display of performances concentrated over the weekend of 4th and 5th of February.
