Cepsa is an integrated energy company, the fourth largest industrial company by revenue in Spain, and its business operations cover the entire hydrocarbon value chain. The company’s business areas include exploration and production, refining and marketing, petrochemicals, the sale of crude and trading of oil derivatives, and gas and power. 

Cepsa’s Exploration and Production area is responsible for the group's activities in the exploration, development and production of crude oil and natural gas, both onshore and offshore. Cepsa has E&P operations in Spain, South America, South-East Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Cepsa is a sector leader in Algeria and Colombia.

The Company is a leading European refiner, operating three refineries in Spain. The refineries all operate to the highest environmental, safety, and operating standards, and account for 40 percent of Spain’s refining capacity. In 2016, 21.6 million tons of crude were distilled.

Cepsa’s commercial activity is focused on selling fuels and services at its 1,786 modern service stations throughout Spain, Portugal, Andorra and Gibraltar. Cepsa also has an extensive national and international network of agents and distributors to market its products across the world. This includes the marketing of liquefied petroleum gases, asphalts and lubricants. In 2016, Cepsa's total sales, including petrochemicals, were 28.3 million tons. 

Cepsa’s Petrochemicals activity is highly integrated with the refining business, resulting in products with a significant added value. The Company has a significant presence in Spain, and is strengthening its operations in markets where it is a global leader, such as the production of linear alkylbenzene (LAB), the raw material used to manufacture biodegradable detergents, or phenol, used to produce next generation plastics. Besides Spain, Cepsa also has chemical production facilities in Canada, Brazil, Germany, China, Nigeria and Indonesia.
