Members of the new Emirates Youth Council along with Emirati Students recently flew over to Russia on their first overseas Youth Circle discussion panel. Their mission: to meet up with Russian students in the city of St Petersburg and together find ways of helping young people become tomorrow's entrepreneurial tycoons.

Just like international conferences held by organizations including the United Nations, the council members and students got to grips with big issues in a series of panel discussions.

They talked about how to develop a generation of young business people and how the UAE can branch out from an oil-based to a knowledge-based economy.

The trip was part of the 'Youth Circle' initiative, which is organized by the UAE's Ministry of State for Youth to get young people talking about important issues. This was the first time the Youth Circle has branched outside the UAE to exchange ideas with young people from other countries.

The Emirates Youth Council was established to help out the large group of young people and developed strategies that enable the youth to take part in fulfilling the UAE’s vision for future. The help of the ‘Youth Circle’ initiative, it has become an effective channel to identify challenges facing youth, provide solutions and ensure involvement of youth.

Meetings between different groups of young people are important as it builds lines of communication between societies who share the same goal.

On the agenda in Russia:
- How to increase the number of the young local entrepreneurs
- How young business leaders can provide opportunity for the UAE's economy and for the community, as well as reducing youth unemployment.
- Why there are still relatively few young people who are self-employed

Representatives from Mubadala also attended the international event as the company plays an important role in supporting youth, as well aiding the Abu Dhabi Vison 2030 to diversify the economy.

The company has also been providing youthful UAE nationals with job opportunities in a range of fields, from finance, healthcare, aerospace and sustainability.

Young leaders and key players in the UAE's growth have also been employed throughout Mubadala and its asset.
