Mubadala’s Petroleum & Petrochemicals (P&P) platform companies are playing a key role in supporting the global response to combat the spread of COVID-19.

Dr. Alyazia Ali Al Kuwaiti, Executive Director of Upstream & Integrated at Mubadala P&P, focuses on the efforts that the platform’s companies are making to support local communities where they operate, and the positive impact they are having in mitigating the impact of the virus.

Khalid Al Otaiba, Associate, highlights P&P’s CEPSA, a global energy and chemical company based in Spain, which is introducing various initiatives in response to COVID-19 in the country.

CEPSA Foundation has offered hundreds of fuel cards worth €50,000 at its service stations, to support medical and other essential public services. It has also contributed to the costs of urgent medical transportation in the country, where 100 ambulances were mobilized in two months.

CEPSA Foundation also partnered with the Spanish Food Banks Federation (FESBAL), a non-profit association, to donate 480,000 Kilogram of basic food items to be distributed among food banks in the vicinity of the company’s main locations in Madrid, Huelva, Campo de Gibraltar, Las Palmas and Tenerife. This is helping to meet the urgent need for basic food products among the groups most disadvantaged due to the coronavirus pandemic.

CEPSA has also donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that includes surplus goggles, gloves and masks to Andalusian Health Service, and provided 5,000 blankets to hospitals in Madrid.

Additionally, through its corporate volunteering program, Voluntas, the organization has launched several online volunteering initiatives to support the elderly and the sick. CEPSA professionals can contribute by offering support by telephone, an initiative started by “Cáritas”, and sending encouragement cards promoted by “NadieSolo”. These types of volunteering activities began in Madrid and will gradually be extended to other social projects being carried out in the regions where the company is most active.

In parallel, CEPSA is continuing all of its efforts to maintain the vital energy supplies, essential for both homes and public facilities, as well as the supply of raw materials for manufacturing hygiene products and detergents, which the company produces in its petrochemical facilities.
