Our Impact
Accelerating Our Commitment Gender Equality 20 2020 Initiative

Achieving gender balance has always played an integral role in the UAE and remains a key priority for the future of the country. At Mubadala, we recognize that gender equality is critical to creating value for our business and our communities.

Today, we have a strong representation of women at all levels of our organization, but we know that there is more that we can do. That is why, we are proud to be a Founding Partner of 20 for 2020 Initiative, established by Aurora50 to increase female representation at board level, using a holistic approach that harnesses the power of an ecosystem of enablers, partners and collaborators.

Mubadala's Fatima Al Fahim and Alya Al Hosani have been selected from a pool of candidates to participate in the initiative's tailored year-long program that aligns with the UAE's leadership directive for the empowerment of women in the workplace, and with the Dubai Women Establishment's objective to increase female representation on corporate boards to 20% within 2020. It includes board training, a placement on a UAE-based company's board, executive coaching and mentoring, round-table discussions, workshops, plus networking opportunities. The Steering Committee chaired by Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, consists of board members from leading UAE companies, including Ahmed Al Mazrouei from Mubadala, who will review and advise on all areas of the program.

Fatima is a Senior Vice President within the Metals & Mining team, driving business development while managing one of our key mining assets in Spain, MATSA. Prior to joining Mubadala in 2012, Fatima held a number of investment and corporate positions at N.M. Rothschild and Hewlett Packard. As a Director in the Human Capital team of our Petroleum & Petrochemicals platform, Alya is responsible for providing strategic guidance to business leaders in multiple aspects of the human capital function, as well as programs, policies and services focused on talent management, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, and employee engagement.

As the need for diversity in boardrooms grows, we are extremely excited to see the impact Alya and Fatima will have as they work through the program.
